BORN ON:
There are two traditions of dates of birth of Guru Nanak Dev:
1.Vaisakh Sudi # (20 Vaisakh : Full moon),Bikrami era, 1526/April 15,1469 A>D
2. Kattak Sudi (Full moon), Bikrami era, 1526/ October-November, 1469 A.D
But his birth day in the Sikh world is,invariably,celebrated on full moon night, in the month of Kattak.

GOD’S REALIZATION:
While living at Sultanpur Lodhi,one morning he went to the rivulet Vein to take his usual bath. Therefrom he went to the nearby forest for Nama-Simran and Suddenly fell into trance. He ws blessed with Divine Vision. His First Sermon was:
“Na ko Hindu hai, na ko Musalaman hai”
Neither there is any Hindu nor Muslim.
UDASIS:
Guru Sahib undertook five Udasis for the benefit of One and All and traveled extensively throughout Indian sub-continent apart from visiting Sri Lanka, Mecca(Saudi Arabia), Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan and other places.
BANI:
Total number of hymns, 947 in 19 Ragas, e.g. Asa, Basantu, Dhanasari, Gauri Majh, Ramakali, Sorathi, Sri Rag and Suhi etc. He also recited Japu which is not in any Rag. His Bani under various headings and in various Ragas, e.g. Sidh Gosati, Arti, Patti and Oankaru et. Is included in Guru Granth Sahib.
HIS MESSAGE:
He enjoined the Sikhs, as-
1. Kirat Karo.
2. Nama Japo.
3. Vand ke Chhako.
4. To shed away caste-prejudices,because allhuman beings are equal.
5. To imbibe the spirit of Service and Humility.

CITY FOUNDED :
He FOUNDED Kartarpur, a city on the banks of river Ravi in 1504 A.D.,which was lateron washed out by the river water of Ravi.
