Sikhism recognize the complete equality between women and men in all spheres of life: political, social and religious. Guru Granth Sahib, sikh holy book, is the eternal spiritual guide of the sikhs.
Sikhism is the fifth largest religion in the world. It was founded by Guru Nanak Dev Ji(1469-1538). Adherents of sikhism are known as sikhs. The word sikh means disciple or student. Sikhs are the disciples of God who follow the writings and teachings of the ten Sikh Gurus. Sikhs currently number approximately 25 million accross the world. The principle belief of sikhism is “Oneness of God”. Sikhism believes in equality of all humans and rejects caste system. Sikhism does not recognize racial, class, caste or other earthly distinctions. God is one and is same for all people of all religions. Sikhism emphasizes daily devotion to the remembrance of God.
